Obituary


CARVER: J.N. Paul Boyer, 88, formerly of Cochituate, died peacefully at his residence in Carver on Saturday, September 22, 2018 following a brief illness.
He was born in Lexington on October 8, 1929 the son of the late Wilfrid J. Boyer and Emma M. (Barriere) Boyer.
Paul was the husband for 58 years of the late Bessie E. (Gaudet) Boyer who died on April 16, 2009.
He was the devoted father of Paul T. Boyer and his wife Darlene (Hunt) Boyer of Fleming Island, FL and Alice M. Boyer Gentile of Natick. He was the caring grandfather of Stephanie Boyer; Jennifer Boyer and her fiancé Michael Vanover; Michael Boyer; Derick Gentile and his wife Heather Gentile; Corinne Gentile; Clinton Gentile and his wife Kelly Gentile and Lauren Gentile. He was the cherished great-grandfather of Jameson Snow; Giavanna Gentile, Gianna Gentile Amaro; Jaiden Lozado; Valentina Gentile; Darien Gentile and Ava Gentile. Also survived by his companion of many years, Barbara Hartnett of Carver. Paul was the brother of the late Simone I. Wittig who died on December 20, 2017. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Paul spent most of his life in Cochituate before moving to Carver seven years ago. He graduated from Wayland High School with the Class of 1948.
He had a long career in automotive sales with Park Superior who provide the funeral service industry with funeral vehicles. He also was one of several owners of Bay State Livery Service formerly of Natick. Paul was associated, in his earlier years, with the Gibbs Memorial Funeral Home of Cochituate and later with the John C. Bryant Funeral Home of Cochituate for many years providing services in many capacities.
Paul enjoyed traveling throughout the United States with his late wife, Bess and especially enjoyed the time they spent with family at their summer residence in Tuftonboro, New Hampshire.
In recent years he and his companion Barbara traveled to Florida during the winter months and had many happy years with her in Carver.
Paul also enjoyed doing projects and renovations on his home in Cochituate and New Hampshire. He was a good neighbor and always willing to help out. He enjoyed tending to his garden and sharing the many tomatoes and vegetables with friends and neighbors.
At Paul’s request, there will be no funeral home visitations and all services will be private for his family.
He will be laid to rest with his wife Bess in the Boyer – Gaudet family lot in Lakeview Cemetery in Cochituate.
In lieu of flowers, his family suggests that memorial gift’s in Paul’s memory may be sent to the charity of the donor’s choice.
