Sharon Barber, 54, of the Lands Crossing community in Irwin County, Georgia, died Saturday, September 22, 2018, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 4 PM, Monday, September 24, 2018, at Rebecca Baptist Church in Rebecca, with the Rev. Eric Smith and the Rev. Jimbo Dominey officiating. Interment will follow in Big Creek Cemetery, Irwin County. The family will receive friends from 5-8 Sunday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Barber was born January 12, 1964, in Fayette, Alabama, to Eva Nell Dawkins Johnson of Lands Crossing. She was raised by her mother and step-father, Gene Johnson. Mrs. Barber was a 1982 graduate of Irwin Academy and attended East Central Technical College in the Accounting program. She worked in Accounts Payable for the Turner County Board of Education. In addition to spending time with her family, she enjoyed baking and making crafts and was always willing to help others. She was a member of Rebecca Baptist Church.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 8 years, Mark Barber of Lands Crossing; children and their spouses: Krystal & Eric Metcalf of Ashburn, Dewayne Farmer of Ashburn, Mysti & Kaleb Grimsley of Lands Crossing, Cody & Maranda Barber of Lands Crossing, and Adrienne & Philip Worley of Cordele; and grandchildren: Ashley Metcalf, Christopher Metcalf, Dylan Farmer, Kali Grace Grimsley, Faith Barber, Kolton Barber, and Ansleigh Worley. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Gene Johnson.
