John W. Ryan, Sr.

CHAPEL HILL, NC: Mr. John William Ryan, Sr., 83, peacefully passed Tuesday afternoon, surrounded by his family, at Chatham Ridge Assisted Living Center in Chapel Hill, NC September 18, 2018.
John was born and raised in Woburn, MA on November 20, 1934 to the late Marion (Ingersoll) and John Joseph Ryan.
John and his wife were residents of Tewksbury, MA for 56 years.
John enjoyed his job as a heavy equipment operator working in the construction industry for many years. He also worked for many years as an artesian well driller in the North East area.
John was a long time member of the Knights of Columbus and Holy Name Society. He also loved socializing and made friends wherever he went.
In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his grandson Alfred John (AJ) Ryan.
John is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joan (Moniz) Ryan of Pittsboro, NC; sons, John Ryan, Jr. of Nashua, NH and Alfred Ryan and his wife Shannon of Moncure, NC; daughters, Joan Scibilia and husband Jack of Lowell, MA, Kathleen Ryan and Eric Clark of Dracut, MA, Darlene Lamon and husband Richard of Windham NH; grandchildren; Angela Morals, Michael Ryan, Jennifer Harris, David Scibilia, Victoria Beaulac, Billy and Amy Ryan, Alex Lamon and five great-grandchildren; sisters, Frances (Fritzie) Chochrek and Marion (Sis) Carter; brother, Thomas Ryan.
Calling hours are Sunday, Sept. 23, from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street Tewksbury. His funeral procession will begin on Monday, Sept. 24, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main Street, Tewksbury. Interment at St. Mary Cemetery, 90 River Road, Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Chatham Ridge Assisted Living, 114 Polks Village Lane, Chapel Hill, NC 27517.
