Obituary

John “Jack” Sullivan, 90, of Wellesley and Center Harbor, NH passed away on September 18, 2018. Jack was born on March 24, 1928 to Daniel and Marion Sullivan. The oldest of five children, Jack grew up in Belmont, MA and graduated from Belmont Hill School and Lowell Textile Institute and studied at Boston University. Jack married Isabelle Lafayette Beausoleil, and they had five children before Isabelle passed away in 1963. Jack married Anne Elcock Sullivan and together they raised seven children and eighteen grandchildren.

Jack founded and was president and chairman of Accurate Fasteners, Inc., Boston, leading the business until he retired in 2013 at 85 years old. Jack was a founding member of and president of the New England Fastener Distributors Association and a member of the board of the National Fastener Distributors Association. In the late 1990’s Jack represented the fastener distributor industry in testimony before the US Congress.

Family and faith were the cornerstones of Jack’s life; he was a devout member of St. Paul’s Church, Wellesley and St. Charles Borromeo, Meredith, NH and a member of The Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre. A resident of Wellesley, MA and Centre Harbor, NH, Jack was happiest on the porch of the “Main B” surrounded by his family and looking out onto Squam Lake, NH.

Jack is survived by his wife Anne Elcock Sullivan, his seven children: Dan Sullivan and his wife Jacqui of Hingham, Jack Sullivan and his wife Sue of Hingham, Peter Sullivan and his wife Kerry of Sudbury, Debbie Stone and her husband Roger of Greenville, SC, Martha Sullivan of Southborough, Tom Sullivan and his wife Meredith of New Canaan, CT, and Mark Sullivan and his wife Andrea of Medfield. He was the very proud “Grandpa” to 18 grandchildren: Randy, Caroline, Roger and Michael Stone of Greenville, SC, Jack Brian and Bobby Sullivan of Hingham, Kate and Annie Sullivan of Southborough, Jackie and Emily Sullivan of Sudbury, Christopher and Ryan Sullivan of Hingham, Will, Charlie and Thomas Sullivan of New Canaan, CT Luke and John Sullivan of Medfield. Uncle to dozens of nieces and nephews. In addition Jack leaves behind his sisters Brenda Sullivan Downey, Marion Sullivan Lucy, and Ellen Sullivan McNamara. He was pre-deceased by his sister Jean Sullivan Reynolds.

Jack will be forever remembered and respected for his devotion to faith and family, and for his hard work ethic. He was respected by everyone who met him, in business and at home. Jack’s kindness, caring, patience, sense of fairness and quiet sense of humour will be deeply missed.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Jack’s life at a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 10am at St. Paul Church, 502 Washington St., Wellesley. Visiting hours will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St. Wellesley (Rt.16), on Friday, September 21, 2018 from 4-8pm. Interment in St. Mary Cemetery, Needham.
