HEGARTY, William J., age 75 of Jamaica Plain passed away Saturday, September 15, 2018 at the Seasons Hospice of Milton after a long battle with cancer. Son of the late Margaret M. and William J. Hegarty. Brother of Katherine E. Hegarty of Hyde Park, Kevin M. Hegarty of New Bedford, and the late John T. Hegarty and James B. Hegarty. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Bill was a former member of the Roofers Union and had retired as a member of Tunnel Workers Union, Local 88. He had worked on a number of projects related to the “Big Dig” and the Boston outfall project. Bill was a longtime member of the Old Colony Yacht Club. He loved boating and the sea. The family would like to express their appreciation to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, the Faulkner Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and the Seasons Hospice for their care during periods of his illness. A Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held on Friday, September 21st at 11am at the Old Colony Yacht Club, 235 Victory Rd. Dorchester. Relatives and friends invited. Interment Private.
