Obituary

Jon T. Scofield, 72, of Franklin, died Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Genesis Healthcare in Milford after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Mary Jane (Scannell) Scofield, and the late Roberta (Pierce) Scofield.

Born on April 17, 1946 in Albany, New York, he was the son of the late Gilbert J. and Catherine (Mount) Scofield.

Mr. Scofield was a resident of Franklin for the past 35 years and proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

He graduated from the Walter Johnson High School in North Bethesda, MD and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Arizona in 1978.

Mr. Scofield was an electrical engineer, owning a consulting business for 20 years doing defense consulting until his retirement.

Jon was a member of the Franklin School Committee from 1994-1995, and was a longtime member of the Republican Town Committee. He was also a member of the Air Force Association, and the Hanscom Representatives Association.

In his younger years, he enjoyed skiing, golf, and football. He was an avid sports fan, and was a proud New England Patriots season ticket holder, even having gone to see them play in three Super Bowls.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his brother Robert C. Scofield and his wife Carol G. of Vero Beach, FL (formerly of Lake Placid, NY), his daughter Jennifer Malizia and her husband Michael of Tewksbury, two sons, Matthew T. Scofield of New Britain, CT and Alex Scofield of Burbank, CA, two granddaughters, Dakota R. Malizia and Ava P. Scofield, nephew Curtis and his wife Heather and their children Bianca, Sammy and Lily, and niece Elizabeth and her daughter Ashley.

Jon is also survived by his best friends, William Smith and his wife Robin of Red Bank, NJ.

Graveside services will take place at the North Elba Cemetery in Lake Placid, NY at a later date.
