Obituary

Henry A. Randazzo, a long-time Medford resident, passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at the Winchester Hospital. He was 70.

Born in Chelsea on February 19, 1948, he was raised in Medford and was the son of the late Henry and Carmella (Petricino) Randazzo. Henry attended local schools and graduated from Medford High School with the Class of 1966.

Henry’s career was spent serving the City of Medford with the Highway Department. He enjoyed his work and the friendships that were fostered over the years. Henry’s friendships were very important to him. There was not anything he would not do for the people he loved and cared for.

He was one of a kind, loving and strong willed. Anyone you ask would agree that Henry was the funniest person they have ever met. He was legendary for telling jokes and if anyone told him a joke, he would laugh then tell them, “Hey, I tell the jokes!” Henry was the life of the party and loved having a good time. At gatherings, his friends knew he was famous for playing his favorite ‘60’s music by The Temptations and would have his signature cocktail in hand, a Bacardi and Diet Coke—No Lime.

In his spare time, Henry loved working his garden as he was born with a green thumb. He was notorious for growing basil and giving it out to everyone. More recently he was growing an assortment of delicious peppers. Henry enjoyed sports. His favorites were professional and college football and college basketball. In the evening and on weekends, you would find him relaxing and watching a game. Henry bought the Boston Herald every day and would read the sports page word-for-word.

Henry spent much of his time with his wife, Karen, enjoying life together and traveling. Henry was tan 365 days a year, probably due to his love for the beach. He was happy when he was in the sand, soaking up the sun and swimming in the ocean. He and Karen enjoyed vacations to Alaska, Aruba, Ogunquit and Wells, Maine and to the North Carolina Outer Banks.

Henry was the beloved husband of Karen S. (Albano) Randazzo. The two married on June 21, 1986 at Payson Park Church in Belmont. Together they shared 32 loving years of marriage. As husband and wife, Henry and Karen were true friends. When remembering Henry, Karen pictures his big smile while calling out to her, “Hey Ney!” Henry is also survived by many other loving relatives and friends.
