Alma Connell Sirmans, 93, of Ashburn passed away Thursday, September 13, 2018, at her residence. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 16, 2018, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Tommy Bridges and Bennie Knight officiating. Ms. Sirmans will be laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday, September 16, 2018, from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Clay Knight, Michael Stone, Keith Bridges, Wade Bitt Knight, Korey Bridges and Josh Knight will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Knight, Chris Knight, Cody Knight, Beau Stone, Jared Knight and Hunter Bridges.
Born November 2, 1924 in Berrien County, Ms. Sirmans was the daughter of the late Robert George Connell and Lona Barber Connell. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Joel David Sirmans and Jackie Ronald Stone and was the last of 14 brothers and sisters. Before retiring, she worked several years at the Georgia Agrirama and was a member of Vickers Baptist Church in Berrien County. She loved to watch TV, especially Wheel of Fortune. She lived most of her life in Tift County, but had lived with her daughter in Ashburn for the last three years.
Ms. Sirmans is survived by one son, Kenneth Sirmans of Tifton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Gwen and Tommy Bridges of Ashburn and Linda and Ernest Knight of Tifton; thirteen grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
