Obituary

“BostonRetired Boston Fire Department Lieutenant Robert E. "Bob" Prince, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life suddenly on Friday, September 7, 2018 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was 86 years of age.

Bob was born in Boston on October 17, 1931, a son of the late William Prince and Elizabeth (Sullivan) Prince. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated in the Boston Public School system and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1950. Bob was appointed to the Boston Fire Department on October 20, 1965. He was assigned to Areal Tower #1 in 1970, Engine Company 40 in 1971, Ladder # 24 in 1982 and Engine Company 50 in 1983. Bob was promoted to Lieutenant on August 16, 1978 and was assigned to Engine Company 50 in Charlestown until his retirement on October 31, 1996 following 31 years of dedicated service to the City of Boston. He was a member of Boston Firefighters Union Local # 718 and Bunker Hill Council # 62, Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed taking trips with his family to Europe and Alaska and traveling to Disney World with his grandchildren.

Bob is the beloved husband of 63 years to Mary A. "Mae" (Hanlon) Prince. He is the devoted father of Diane Prince, Robert Prince, Mary Ciampa and her husband David and Gerard Prince. He is the loving Grandpa to Andrew, Caitlin, Kelleigh, Kathleen and his great-grandson Ryan. He is the beloved brother of the late James Prince, William Prince, Frederick Prince, Thomas Prince, Arthur Prince, Eileen Sarno, Jane Campbell and Marie Moore. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Bob's Funeral Services and burial will be private.
