Sharon Pope, 63, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Friday, September 7, 2018, at Navicent Health in Macon.
Graveside services will be held 11 AM, Monday, September 10, 2018, at Ocilla Cemetery in Ocilla with the Rev. Gibson Kelly Pope, Jr. officiating.
Mrs. Pope was born January 12, 1955, in Flagler Beach, Florida, to the late Luther Covington and the late Mazie Polk Hyder. She was a 1973 graduate of Fitzgerald High School. Mrs. Pope worked as a ward clerk at Dorminy Medical Center and as a medical secretary for Dr. Morgan Smith and Dr. Charles Durden. She retired from Ben Hill County as a 911 dispatcher. She loved to sew, to bake, and to cook. She loved everything Disney. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, family was the most important part of her life. She was a member of West Side Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Terry Pope, Sr. of Fitzgerald; children: Rev. Terry Pope, Jr. & Misty of Fitzgerald and Jennifer Pope of Fitzgerald; three grandchildren: Harper Pope, Hadlee Pope, and Cierra Adams & Cody; and a great-grandson, Thomas Adams. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Allen Covington and Wayne Covington.
