Helen (Solodiuk) Potorski, 76, of Peabody, passed away with her family by her side on Monday, September 3, 2018 at the Beverly Hospital, following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of Ronald R. Potorski with whom she shared 56 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Anne (Sosnowicz) Solodiuk. She met Ron while vacationing with family in the greater Salem area and the couple married at Tyndall Air Force Base in Panama City, Florida following a short courtship. They were stationed in Alaska before moving to Peabody in 1966. Helen devoted the early years of her marriage to the care of her family. She later worked for Mass Trans as a monitor for nearly twenty years.
Helen was President of the PLAV, Post 55, Women’s Auxiliary of Salem and a former member of ARC in Danvers. She enjoyed reading, computers and most especially music.
In addition to her husband Ron, she is survived by her son, Darrin S. Potorski and his wife Jennifer of Lowell, her sister, Anne McCarren of Glen Mills, PA as well as several cousins. She was predeceased by her daughter Karen M. Potorski.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Route 114 / 1-A] Salem on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 9:00 AM to be followed by her Mass of Christian Burial in the St. Pope John Paul II Shrine of Devine Mercy (formerly St. John the Baptist Church) 28 St. Peter St., Salem at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Visiting hour at the funeral home will be on Friday, September 7th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.
