Obituary

Mary R. (O’Connell) Vipraio 69, of Franklin, died peacefully, surrounded by her family, at home Saturday September 1, 2018, following a long illness. She was the beloved wife of Paul J. Vipraio, Sr. with whom she shared 50 years of marriage.

Born November 23, 1948 in Lowell, a daughter of Mary R. (Turcotte) O’Connell of Bellingham and the late Gerard J. O’Connell, she was a resident of Franklin since 1954.

Mary was raised and educated in Franklin and was a 1966 graduate of Franklin High School.

She worked as an administrative assistant for the Nestle-Waters Corporation and was the former driver of school bus #17 for the Town of Franklin. She also worked for Mr. Joseph’s Jewelry.

Mary’s family was the most important thing to her; she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She enjoyed watching the first snowfall of the season, trips to the casino, painting, pottery, cake decorating, going out to eat and a good martini. She followed the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox.

She was a member of the Franklin Lodge of Elks and St. Mary’s Church, Franklin.

In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by her children; Paul J. Vipraio, Jr. and his wife Tara of Shrewsbury, Lisa M. McDermott and her fiancé James Austin of Franklin, 5 sisters, Helen Kelley of Medway, Janet Mulvey of Bellingham, Gerry Scappaticci of Bellingham, Patricia Rossi of Wrentham and Ann M. Raposa of Franklin.

Also surviving are her cherished grandchildren, Kylie, Emily, & Paul J. Vipraio, III, Maegan & Patrick McDermott.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Friday Sept. 7th, at 9AM from the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral home 33 Cottage St. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Jude Church, 86 Main St. Norfolk at 10AM.

Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery will be held privately.

Calling hours are Thursday from 4-8PM.
