Dorothy R. King-Horne, 81, of Berlin, passed away on Friday August 31, 2018 at the St. Vincent de Paul Rehab and Nursing Center. She was born in Brockton, MA on January 24, 1937 the daughter of Edward and Rose (Savoie) Lamarre and lived most of her life in Berlin. She had worked as a nurse’s assistant for 38 years, had worked as a bookkeeper, owned a restaurant for a year, worked at Converse Rubber Company and Response for Domestic Violence. She volunteered for multiple organizations, including at St. Vincent de Paul Nursing Activities Department where she taught coloring, and won a Volunteer of the Year Award. Dorothy was a member of Good Shepherd Parish and enjoyed trips to the casinos, dancing, coloring. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed traveling to Florida, Arizona and California. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren.
Family includes her children Arthur “Pete” King and companion Susan Sevigny of Wilsons Mills, ME, Dennis “Fuzzy” King and his wife Corinne of Berlin, NH, Maurice King and wife Lisa of Washington, NH, Jamie King and wife Sandra of Goffstown, NH and Michelle King of Gorham, NH; 15 grandchildren-Chad, Kristen, Eric, Andrew, Shayna, Corey, Thera, Ben, Julianne, Valerie, Taylor, Paige, Lane, Brandon and Brittany; many great grandchildren; brothers Bobby Lamarre and Francis Lamarre; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her son Claude King, her husband Robert Horne and brothers Raymond Lamarre and Eddie Lamarre.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday September 6, 2018 at 10 AM at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, MA/NH Chapter, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA, 02472.
