TEWKSBURY - Mary Dorothy “Dot” (Kinsley) Waterman, age 93, died peacefully in the care of her family and hospice at her Tewksbury home early Thursday morning, August 23, after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of Edward F. “Ted” Waterman, who died in 1980, and predeceased by two sons, Edward “Teddy” Waterman who died in 2002, and former Lowell Police Detective Francis “Frank” Waterman, who died in April, 2017.
She was born in Somerville in March 1925, a daughter of the late William and Mary (Keough) Kinsley, and raised in Somerville. She and her husband moved to Tewksbury in 1954 to raise their family.
In her younger years, she worked at the Boston Navy Yard, and later worked as a secretary at St. William’s Church in Tewksbury. She retired from the office of the Andover Bulk Mailing company.
Dotty will be lovingly remembered for her devotion to her family.
She leaves a son, William Waterman, and his wife Maureen (Walsh) Waterman of Tewksbury; a daughter, Lee A. Waterman, of Tewksbury; a daughter-in-law, Dorothy (Sicard) Waterman, of Pepperell, who was Frank’s wife; seven grandchildren, Francis M. Waterman Jr. of Fitchburg, Brian R. Waterman and Kelly A. Waterman of Pepperell, Daniel E. Waterman of FL, Jennifer Parsons of AZ, Katie A. Waterman of No. Chelmsford, and William E. Waterman of NH; seven great grandchildren, Michael, Brianna, Connor, Emma, Ayla, Aiden, and Lilly; a sister, Louise Sorabella of Stoneham; many nieces and nephews; and was also predeceased by her brothers, the late William Kinsley, Robert Kinsley, and Arthur Kinsley.
Visiting hours Monday, Aug. 27, from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte. 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, Ph. (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950. Her funeral will begin Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St. (Rte. 38) Tewksbury.
