FALL RIVER – Mary F. (Souza) Wick, age 67 of Fall River, passed away on Monday, Aug. 20, 2018 after a 17 year battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Ponta Delgada, São Miguel, Açores, she was the daughter of the late Umberto I. & Maria do Carmo (Barreira) Sousa and the beloved wife of Stephen Wick.
Mary was a 1970 graduate of BMC Durfee High School and a 2001 graduate of Lesley University. Mary worked for St. Michael Church & St. Michael School for 27 years, retiring as a Kindergarten Teacher in 2015.
Mary was a devoted parishioner of St. Michael Church, where she had worked in the Rectory Office, served as a Eucharistic Minister, a Church Lector, volunteered at the annual St. Michael Feast and the Soup Kitchen. She was a Marian Medal recipient, and a member and past Treasurer of the Holy Rosary Sodality. She was also a Faith Formation Teacher, a member of both the St. Michael School Advisory Council and the St. Michael Parish Council.
Besides her loving husband, Mary is survived by her children: Sean Burns and Kelly (Burns) Rezendes (husband Derrick) all of Fall River; her grandchildren: Kaleigh, Nathaniel & Lila Rezendes; her brother: Charles Souza (wife Cheryl) of Fall River; a niece and a nephew.
Her funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St., Fall River on Friday, Aug. 24 at 9:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael’s Church at 11:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours on Thursday 4-8 P.M. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Michael School to fund a Scholarship in Mary’s Memory.
