Billy G. Fulp. 91

Dateline: South Yarmouth, MA

Billy G. Fulp, age 91, of South Yarmouth, passed away surrounded by his loving family, in the comfort of his home on Sunday, August 19, 2018. He was the beloved husband of the late Arlene K. (Troesch) Fulp, who died on September 1, 2001.

Born in McGregor, Texas on July 5, 1927, he was a loving son of the late Jesse and Katherine (Russell) Fulp.

Billy grew up and was educated in Valley Mills, Texas. During WWII, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army and later served in 1955.

Mr. Fulp had been employed as a electrician for sixteen years for the Department of Agriculture, retiring in 1989. He and his late wife Arlene had formerly owned and operated the Bass River Motel and the Bayberry Lodge in South Yarmouth.

Billy had made his home in South Yarmouth for the past fifty years and previously resided in Mansfield, where he was a member of the Mansfield Lions Club. He loved spending time with his family, helping neighbors and friends, and will always be remembered for the way he meticulously cared for his home.

He is survived by his sister-in-law Carol L. Tessier and his niece Pamela R. Miller, with whom he shared his home. He is also survived by many other loving nieces and nephews who will remember him for his never ending support, wisdom and tales of his Texas childhood. He was pre-deceased by 4 siblings, his nephew Gary Richardson and his niece Melissa Cheyne.

His funeral service, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Thursday, August 23rd at 11:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield. Military honors will follow at the conclusion of services and burial will take place at a later date at the Spring Brook Cemetery in Mansfield.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Billy’s memory may be made to the Melissa A. Cheyne Scholarship Fund at Furman University, 3300 Poinsett Highway, Greenville, SC 29613.
