Jean M. Carr
Active member of the Tewksbury Congregational Church

TEWKSBURY: Jean M. (Wilson) Carr, age 55, a resident of Tewksbury for over 30 years, passed away at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington on Friday, August 17, 2018, following a brave battle with cancer.

She was the beloved wife of James A. Carr, with whom she celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary on August 3rd.

Born in Arlington on February 3, 1963, she was the daughter of the late George P. Wilson, Jr. and the late Phyllis (Alger) Wilson.

Jean was raised in North Reading and graduated from North Reading High School in 1981. Following graduation, she attended Framingham State College and graduated from Salem State College where she majored in Business Administration.

Prior to her illness, she worked as a substitute teacher for the Tewksbury Public School System and as an office administrator at Best Pets Veterinary Clinic.

Jean served on numerous committees at the Tewksbury Congregational Church including the Missions Committee, the Board of Ministries, and the Pastor Parish Relations Committee. She also became involved in a project led by Harvest Hands Ministries traveling to Mexico to build a children’s home on the outskirts of Juarez. This touched her so deeply, she led several mission trips with dozens of members and youth of Tewksbury Congregational Church.

There was nothing in this world more important to Jean than her family and spending time with them. Whenever possible, the family spent time in the mountains of New Hampshire, kayaking, laughing, and playing games. In May of this year, she took a cross country trip with her children. Her love radiated throughout her family and everybody she met and will forever be missed.

Jean loved animals and spent many years volunteering at the MSPCA-Nevins Farm in Methuen.

She enjoyed scrapbooking, hiking in the White Mountains, and taking walks anywhere and everywhere.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two children, Jennifer N. Ripley and her husband Joseph of Londonderry, NH, and Jeffrey J. Carr of Tewksbury; three sisters, Janet B. McLoughlin and her husband David of Roy, WA, Cynthia M. Meuse of Bath, NH, and Sandra E. Pelletier and her husband John of Derry, NH. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Calling hours are Monday, Aug. 20, from 3-7 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Family and friends are asked to meet at the Tewksbury Congregational Church, 10 East St., Tewksbury on Tuesday, Aug. 21 at 10 AM for her funeral service. Interment to follow at Tewksbury Cemetery.
