Obituary

CHICOPEE ~ Christine A. “Chris” (Bloyder) Moriarty, 65, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, August 11, 2018. She passed into Eternal Life at the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington, Massachusetts surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Springfield on October 22, 1952, a beloved daughter of the late Frank J. and Florence J. (Nowak) Bloyder. She was raised in Hadley, Massachusetts, graduated from Hopkins Academy in Hadley and lived in town for many years before moving to the Fairview section of Chicopee in November of 1978. Christine furthered her education and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from North Adams State Teacher’s College. She was a dedicated teacher in Chicopee for over 40 years and taught elementary and middle school students at Saint Stanislaus Parochial School, Chapin School, Selser Memorial School and the Fairview Veterans Memorial Elementary School, all in Chicopee. During her leisure time, Chris enjoyed her trips to the Mohegan Sun Casino. Most of all, she loved her family, her students and her many friends. She leaves her beloved husband and best friend, Robert E. Moriarty. They were married on June 7, 1975 at the former Holy Rosary Church in Hadley and were blessed with over 43 years of happiness together. Besides her husband, she leaves her loving son, Kevin P. Moriarty and his partner, Marcie, of Claremont, NH; her cherished grandson who was the “light of her life”, Liam Patrick Moriarty; her dear sister, Frances Gorman of Cape Cod; her dear brother-in-law, Paul J. Moriarty of Wilbraham; her dear sister-in-law, Nancy Shimel of Hampden; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Moriarty and Bloyder families. In December, Chris will be watching from the Eternal City in Heaven the upcoming birth of her granddaughter. Her funeral will be held on Monday morning, August 20, 2018 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Saint Stanislaus Cemetery, 800 Montgomery Street, Chicopee, MA 01013. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, August 20, 2018 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. before the Mass.
