Michael S. Zarella, age 67, of Las Vegas, NV formerly of Virginia and Woburn, passed away August 6, 2018 at his home in Nevada. Born in Woburn he was the cherished son of Virginia M. (Pappas) Zarella of Woburn and the late Anthony J. Zarella.
Michael was born and raised in Woburn and was a 1969 graduate of Woburn High School. Following high school, Michael enlisted into the United States Marine Corp and honorably served during the Vietnam War. For the last ten years Michael has been a resident of Las Vegas, NV. Prior to moving to Las Vegas, Michael worked for many years as a contractor and owned and operated the Mike Z Concrete Company. In his leisure time he enjoyed playing pool and cards with friends. He was also big fan of John Wayne and enjoyed watching all of his movies countless times over the years.
In addition to his mother, Michael is survived by his children; Michael Zarella Jr. and his wife Caroline, Jennifer Keys and her husband Chris, Anthony Zarella and his wife Lauren, Jacquelyn Renee Zarella, and Tiffany Zarella, all of Virginia. He was the brother of Deborah Dube and her husband Richard of Newburyport, Denise Miller and her husband Kevin of Townsend. He is also survived by five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Friday, August 17th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Anthony Church, 851 Main St., Woburn, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. Services will conclude with military honors and burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Michael's memory to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
