Obituary

William Baker “Bill” Clark, II, of Chase City, VA, affectionately given the name “Wucus” by his grandson, Cameron, passed away on Monday, August 6, 2018. He was born April 25, 1958 in Richmond, VA and was the son of the late Garnett Earl Clark and the late Jean Wilkerson Clark.

Bill loved the heritage of hunting and was known as, “Gunslinger.” He loved fishing, camping, gardening, laughing, animals, the Outer Banks, the Great Smoky Mountains, NASCAR, especially the Winston Cup Series, but most of all, he loved his family. He grew up on a farm and continued old traditions of living off the land, raising a garden, pigs, cows and chickens, gathering eggs, having a smokehouse for curing meat, and sharing his bounty with others. One of Bill’s greatest pleasures was riding his grandson on his knee on the tractor and teaching him the farm way of life. Bill was very mechanically inclined and could fix practically anything that broke. He loved and appreciated the beauty of wood and antiques. Bill was so very proud of his son, Jeremy for his wood working talent, artistic abilities, and his kind heart. He loved his daughter-in-law, Cathy with all his heart and they loved laughing together. Bill always said his greatest gift in life was his grandson and best little buddy, Cameron. They shared a love for coffee and donuts together and going to Tom’s Country Store at day break to start their day with friends and laughter. Bill and his wife, Gail shared a love of raising beautiful flowers together, loving their family and enjoying a simple farm life at Hickory Shade Farm.

Bill is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Gail S. Clark; son, William Jeremy Clark and wife, Cathy; grandson, William Cameron Clark; step-mother, Dorothy R. Clark; two brothers, Phil Clark and wife, Linda and Steve Clark and Donna Gregory and family; numerous nieces and nephews; and two beloved dogs, Lacy and Jumper. He is also survived by his devoted friends, James Boyd, Monty Tharpe, Tom Baugh, and Donnie Robbins.
