Obituary

Abel A. Gaspar, 92, of Dartmouth passed away Thursday July 26, 2018 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the husband of Agnes (Barboza) Gaspar; they had been married for 70 years.
Born in Dartmouth, the son of the late Arnold and Rose (dePonte) Gaspar, he lived in Dartmouth for most of his life.
Mr. Gaspar was formerly employed as the manager of National Silver Company until his retirement.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Agnes; his son, Stephen Gaspar and his wife Kathy of Dartmouth; his sister, Mary Severino of Dartmouth; four grandchildren, Jenn Gaspar, Jessica Gaspar, Tim Gaspar, and Sara Gaspar Pereira; and seven great-grandchildren, Erin Varnum, Jordan, Nicholas, and Lillian Gaspar, Bennett, Landon, and Kennedy Pereira.
He was the brother of the late Theresa and Donald Gaspar.
His Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday August 1, 2018 at 10 AM at St. Mary's Church, South Dartmouth. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours are omitted. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Veterans Transition House, 20 Willis St., New Bedford, MA 02740.
