Mary Catherine Iannoni passed away on Tuesday July 24, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Domenic and Mary (Mariani) Iannoni. Mary was a graduate of St. Patrick’s Classical High School, Bridgewater State University and the University of Denver earning Bachelor and Masters degrees. Professionally, she was an English teacher for four years and a head counselor for forty-six years in the City of Quincy.
She was a member of state and national associations focused upon recognition of student’s academic achievement within individual potential and talent. In particular, the Brockton Italian Scholarship Club, Quincy Retired Teachers Association, Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority and Massachusetts and National Counselors Associations were instrumental in assisting hundreds of young people with tuitions.
Mary thoroughly enjoyed her head counselorship, the hundreds of students she met and mentored along with their parents, and grandparents, travels in Europe, the United States and in particular Monhegan Island in Maine.
She was blessed with Joseph, her nephew, Maureen, his first wife who died in 2006 after a courageous battle with cancer, their children Jason, Krista, Michael and Allison, and Susan whom he married in 2012. Additionally, Joseph and Jean Sirtoli, first cousins and their family, her very special neighbor Shelly Ross, and friends as they all shared her love with gatherings, music, theatre, cooking and a deep respect for their heritage and one another.
Any wish to remember Mary Catherine may be made to the Quincy Retired Teachers Scholarship Fund, c/o Treasurer, 124 Briar Lane, Westwood, MA 02090.
Funeral arrangements have been made according to her wishes.
