Manuel Neves, 79, of New Bedford died unexpectedly Thursday, July 19, 2018 at St. Luke's Hospital.
Born in Brava, Cape Verde, the son of the late Francisco and Maria Louisa (Gonçalves) Neves, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.
He was formerly employed by Chamberlain Manufacturing Corporation for many years until his retirement.
Manuel enjoyed socializing and spending time with his friends and family.
He is survived by his former wife, Victoria Fortes of New Bedford; five children, Gina DeAndrade and her husband Joao of Yulee, FL, Joao Neves of New Bedford, Antonio Neves of Cape Verde, Eunice Neves of New Bedford, and Elizabeth Neves of New Bedford; his siblings, Joaquim Neves and Louis Neves, both of New Bedford, Francisco Neves, Ivo Neves, Eva Neves, Enriqueta Neves, and John G. Neves, all of Brava; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Antonio Neves and Candida Neves.
His Funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at 8 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM.
