Obituary

LIMERICK/ENGLEWOOD- Joan Elaine Edgerly Park, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on Tuesday June 26, 2018 at the Englewood Community Hospital, Englewood FL., after a brief illness.

Joan was born November 7, 1947, daughter of the late Robert Edgerly and Paula Edgerly Whiteley. She was a graduate of Limerick High School and the University of Maine Gorham campus. After Joan received her teaching degree, she accepted a teaching position with the RSU 57 district and taught with them for 25 years. She was a first-grade teacher in Lyman and kindergarten teacher in Shapleigh schools, but the majority of her career was spent at the Line Elementary School in Limerick/Newfield as a kindergarten teacher. Joan married John Park on December 21, 1968. This year would have been their 50th Wedding anniversary. In 2010 they enjoyed a trip of a lifetime to Hawaii. They always referred to this as their 50th anniversary trip; many memories where made on this trip. Joan and John retired in 2002 and moved to Englewood Fl., to the Lemon Bay Isles Community. There they had a happy, active, busy life, which they enjoyed to the fullest.

Joan was a member of the St. Matthews Catholic Church in Limerick, Maine, where she was a Eucharistic Minister. She was also a member of the No Name Chorus at the Edgewater Club in Englewood.

Joan is lovingly survived by her husband John, her children Andrew Park and wife Jennifer, Samuel Park and wife Jannah, grandchildren Haley, Bode, Danica and Ausashia. She is also survived by two brothers Myron Edgerly and wife Brenda and Donald Edgerly and wife Cheryl. Nieces include Melissa Weymouth and Mary-Ann Baker. Nephews include Mark Edgerly, Robert Edgerly and Heath Edgerly; and many great nieces and nephews.

Joan had a generous heart and was a friend to everyone she met. Her home was always open and a welcoming place for many to gather. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend. She was a kind and fun-loving person, and she had many lifelong friendships because of this. She will be forever loved and deeply missed by all that knew her.
