Obituary

Catherine A. (Gavigan) Cook, 75, of Provincetown died Tuesday, July 10th at Seashore Point Wellness and Rehabilitation Center in Provincetown. Her husband, Deacon Chester O. Cook predeceased her October 11, 2016.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late William and Marion (Antonicelli) Gavigan. Catherine met Chester in New York and were eventually married. After several years of moving around for Chester’s job, they finally settled in Provincetown in the late 1980’s.

Catherine, along with Chester, operated their own restaurant, The Fisherman's Tail in Truro. She also worked in the office of accountant John Medeiros, and then went to work for Outer Cape Health Services in Provincetown for many years.

Mrs. Cook leaves behind her son, Chester, his wife Shari of Westbrook, ME, her sister and caregiver, Marie Gavigan and her son-in-law, Mark Travers, both of Provincetown. Grandchildren Sydney and Jared Sirois, along with Chet and Layla Travers and many friends also survive her. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Cynthia Travers, August 27, 2017.

Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial, Friday, July 20th at 10:00 am in St. Peter the Apostle Church, 11 Prince St., Provincetown. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.
