Robert E. “Bob” Swift age 84 of Wareham died Tuesday July 10, 2018 at the Tobey Hospital. He was the husband of the late Lillian (Lane) Swift. Bob was born and raised in Brockton a son of the late Ralph and Marion (Millett) Swift and lived in the city for most of his life. For the past 19 years he had lived in West Wareham.
Bob was a 1953 graduate of Brockton High School and had been employed at the Brockton office of the US Postal Service where he was a letter carrier for 34 years serving most of his time in the Campello area.
In his free time Bob enjoyed golf, photography, and most especially softball. In 1981 his team won the City Slo Pitch Championship and he proudly wore his championship jacket. Bob was also a member of the BHS Hall of Fame Election Committee and the Seville Council of the Knights of Columbus in Brockton.
Bob was the father of Edward R. “Ted” Swift and his wife Lisa of Melrose and Eleanor J. Finlayson and her husband Mark of Nashua, NH. He also leaves four grandchildren Ariana Caparella-Swift, Mia Swift, Spencer Finlayson and Elizabeth Finlayson and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of David Swift of Halifax, Claire Foulsham of Hanover and the late Richard Swift.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (rte. 123) Brockton on Thursday 5-8pm. A graveside service will be held on Friday at 11am in Calvary Cemetery 163 N.
