Obituary

Robert J. Schramm, 89, of Scottsdale, Arizona passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at his home. He was the beloved husband of Barbara Jean (Arries) Schramm who died in 2006.

Born in Chicago, Illinois on September 16, 1928, he was the son of the late Reinhardt H. and Maybelle H. (Hensel) Schramm.

Bob grew up in Chicago and graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. He was a resident of Scottsdale for the past eight years and had formerly resided in Norfolk.

He proudly served in the Air Force attaining the rank of 1st Lieutenant and was stationed in Japan for 3 years.

Bob worked in sales at the Foxboro Company for 20 years until his retirement in 1985. After retiring, he worked at Babson College for many years where he was the head of the word processing department. Later, he worked at what was his favorite job, purchasing agent, at Mech-Chem & Associates in Norfolk.

Bob loved driving really nice cars and had also worked for Foreign Motors West in Natick during his retirement. He enjoyed collecting golf balls, loved planes and didn’t like to miss his daily 5 p.m. Manhattan.

He is survived by his son John Schramm and his wife Gretchen of Scottsdale, formerly of Norfolk, and two grandsons, Connor and Brendan. He is also survived by six nieces and nephews and his dear friend Zona Kern of Utah.

He was predeceased by two brothers, John and Alan Schramm.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his graveside funeral service with military honors on Friday, July 13 at 11 a.m. at Norfolk Cemetery in Norfolk.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 5 – 8 p.m. in the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber Street in Medway.
