Hester Griffin Whiddon, 97, of Ashburn passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2018 in Tifton.
She was born on August 27, 1920 to the late Henry Anderson and Frankie Van Cravey Griffin. Mrs. Whiddon was a homemaker and a faithful member of Ashburn First Baptist Church. She was a member of the Primetimers and the Keenagers. Mrs. Whiddon was a wonderful cook and enjoyed sharing many homemade dishes with her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Benita Faircloth of Tifton; son, R. F. "Buddy" (June) Whiddon of Ashburn; sisters, Frances Womack of Tifton and Millie Gilmore of Albany; daughter-in-law, Elaine W. Whiddon of Ashburn; grandchildren, Angie Whiddon, Robin Faircloth, Ben Whiddon, Will Whiddon; great-grandchildren, Griffin Whiddon, Peyton Whiddon, Julian Whiddon and Brandon Bobo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Franklin Whiddon to whom she was married for 61 years; son, Randall Whiddon; granddaughters, Ronalynn Faircloth and Teri Whiddon; a son-in-law, Dr. Ronald Faircloth; brothers, Ralph Griffin, Henry Griffin, Charles Griffin, Benjamin Griffin, R. D. Griffin, Raleigh Griffin and Ronald Griffin; sisters, Elizabeth Carrington and Doris Graves.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Ashburn First Baptist Church with interment to follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will greet friends Friday, July 6, 2018 at the funeral home from 6-8 PM.
