Obituary

George C. Chesna, 92, of Auburn and formerly of Worcester died on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 in Life Care Center of Auburn. His wife Hedwig (Sienawski) Chesna died in 2016.

He is survived by his son, Brian Chesna of Waterford, CT., a daughter Pamela (Chesna) Murphy and her husband Michael of Auburn; three granddaughters, Sarah Medeiros and her husband Jonathan, Jenna Murphy and Hannah Murphy, a great-granddaughter, Meryl Medeiros, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by four sisters, Celia Carlson, Mary Capurso, Antoinette Fuller and Julie Klosek. He was born in Worcester a son of Andrew and Celia (Bucinskas) Chesna.

Mr. Chesna was a sheet metal worker at Norton Company (St. Gobain) for many years prior to retiring. He was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church. As a youth, both he and his wife were members of the Polish Falcons Gymnastic group. He served during World War II in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Vernon Hill Post 435 American Legion. His hobbies included maintaining his car and woodworking. He loved the challenge of building a new bookcase or TV stand. George was a kind, caring and committed family man who was the consummate gentleman. He was generous to a fault as his friends and family will remember vividly. His time spent with his granddaughters was his most favorite time in the world.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, July 5, 2018 with a Memorial Mass at 11:00 A.M. in North American Martyrs Church, 8 Wyoma Drive, Auburn. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward Street, Worcester is assisting the family with arrangements.
