Obituary

John Michael Winterhalter passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 24, 2018. John was born on January 18, 1985 in New Bedford, and grew up in Dartmouth.

Growing up, John loved and participated in many sports from pony league through high school, including baseball, basketball, football, and track and field. John graduated, with honors, from Bristol Community College with a degree in Business and went on to attend the University of Tampa. John had many lifelong friends that will always remember him for his spirit of love and generosity.

John worked in the McDonald’s community for many years, making a positive impact on many lives with his time and contributions. He also helped numerous charities, including children’s literacy programs, Schwartz Center for Children, the YMCA, and many others. John’s infectious personality radiated from him, and will always be remembered by those he surrounded himself with.

John was the beloved son of Joseph and Catherine Winterhalter. He is also survived by his brothers, Joey and Paul, his sister Christina, his brother-in-law Chris, his sister-in-law Tara, Paul’s fiancée Lacie, his niece Charlotte, and nephew Jett, as well as his grandfather, Joseph P. Winterhalter, his grandmother, Hilda Rapoza, his wonderful aunts and uncles, and many very special cousins that he loved and shared so many great memories with.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday June 30th at 10 AM at St. Julie’s Church, 494 Slocum Rd., Dartmouth. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours are omitted. Family and friends are welcome to attend the Mass and burial.
