Irene (Santos) Gioiosa, 86, of New Bedford died Friday June 22, 2018 at home after a short illness. She was the wife of the late Joseph Gioiosa, Jr.
Born in Fairhaven, the daughter of the late Francisco and Joaquina (Luiz) Santos, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life.
Mrs. Gioiosa was formerly employed as a sales clerk at Jeffrey's Boutique.
She enjoyed playing Bingo.
She is survived by three children, Joseph A. Gioiosa and his wife Denise of Rochester, Thomas P. Gioiosa and his wife Sandra of Ormond Beach, FL, and Lisa A. Gioiosa and her companion John Franklin of New Bedford; her siblings, Louise Sylvia of Marion, Hilda Giarrusso of Johnston, R.I., Elvira Peterson of North Kingstown, R.I., Grace Gonsalves of New Bedford, and Arthur Santos of New Bedford; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Mary Jesus, Amelia Baptiste, Rose Loureiro, Joaquin"Jack" Santos, August "Gus" Santos, Joseph "Chic" Santos, Antone "Tony" Santos, and John Santos.
