NORTH SACO- Helen Elizabeth Treadwell, age 99, passed away at her home on June 24, 2018.
She was born on March 20, 1919, the child of the late Freeland and Elsie (Coombs) Nield, and attended Emery School in Biddeford, Locke School, Bonython School, and Thornton Academy.
Over the years she worked in a laundromat, a nurses aid at the former Webber Hospital, served as a nurses aid during the 1947 fires, and over 20 years at Herman Shoe.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, bowling, and being with family.
Helen was a member of the E&I Union, and the North Saco Congregational Church.
She is predeceased by her husband William Treadwell, and grandsons- Christopher, Tim, and Kevin.
Helen is survived by her children- Elizabeth McKinnon and her husband John “Jack” of Saco, William “Bill” Treadwell of Biddeford, and Gerry Treadwell and his wife Claudia of Buxton; grandchildren- Jack, Ronnie, Everett, Linda, Wendy, Tammie, William, Stephen, Sarah, Richard, and Todd; twenty great grandchildren; and 14 great great grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday June 27, from 6-8 PM at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road (Rt. 22) in Buxton.
