Obituary

Sylvia J. (Gersh) Goodwin 93, of Natick died Thursday June 21, 2018 at the Royal at Wayland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was the beloved wife of the late Melvin M. Goodwin who died in 2000. A Natick resident for 70 years she was born in Millis the daughter of the late Louis and Sarah (Shuster) Gersh. Mrs. Goodwin was the former Co- Owner with her late husband Mel of the Natick Bus Company, which provided safe, reliable, and caring transportation to the entire Natick School system for over 30 years for the pupils, athletic teams and numerous community needs.
She truly loved the Town of Natick and its residents, dedicated in volunteering for over 50 years in many organizations including the Natick Comets Hockey, in which she and Mel were one of the founding members of the Natick Ice Rink, the Leonard Morse Hospital Aid Association, the Natick Senior Center, the Natick Census and Natick Voter Registration Boards. Sylvia was kind and gracious, to all she met, cherishing especially the time spent with her large extended family, and the many friends she maintained long term relationships with.
She is survived by her five children, Arlene L. Edgar and her husband David of Houlton Maine, Steve Goodwin and his wife Kim of Sudbury, Tom Goodwin and his wife Veronique of Worcester, Jeff Goodwin and his wife Jackie of Dedham, Faith Guarino and her husband John of Framingham, 12 grandchildren Justin Edgar and his wife Jen, Lindsay Edgar, Michael Goodwin and his wife Aimee, Kara Goodwin and her fiancé Andrew Keefer, Jason Goodwin, Chad Goodwin, Katie Goodwin, Ryan Goodwin, Lexi Goodwin, Nick Guarino and his wife Kristin, Tanner Guarino, Mitch Guarino, four great grandchildren, Nathan and Noah Edgar and Cash and Gage Guarino.
Her Funeral Service will held on Monday June 25 at 12:00 Noon in the Chapel of the John Everett and Sons Funeral Home 4 Park Street, at Natick Common. Visiting hours are on Monday Morning beginning at 10:00 A.M. prior to the service. Burial in the Framingham Natick Hebrew Cemetery.
Shiva (visiting with the family) will be held following the cemetery service at the home of Faith and John Guarino, 28 Major Hale Drive, Framingham (off Belknap Rd. and on Tuesday from 3:00-8:00pm.
