Pittman, Lore of Newton, born in Hamburg, Germany. June 3, 2018. Beloved wife of Richard Pittman for 52 years. Loving mother of Robert Harding Pittman. Sister of Dr. Gerhard Buechtemann of Hamburg, Germany. Burial will be in Hamburg, Germany.
A memorial service in Boston will be announced at a later date.
Lore grew up in Hamburg, and came to the U.S. after her marriage to Richard. She worked at Boston University for over 25 years, and was helpful and supportive of Richard’s work in every conceivable way with his conducting career and his musical organizations. She was equally helpful of Robert’s work as a photographer and filmmaker, serving as his photo editor and artistic advisor.
Lore had wide-ranging interests. She was very concerned with civic life in Newton, and she was philanthropic with a large number of charities. She was particularly interested in and supportive of music and the arts, and curated art exhibitions at Boston Musica Viva concerts for many years.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Lore’s memory to Boston Musica Viva, Concord Orchestra or New England Philharmonic.
