Obituary

Richard M. Seagroves, 77, of Midway, Georgia, died Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah, Georgia.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Saturday, June 23, 2018, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with Rev. J. C. Wright officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends, Friday evening, from 6 PM until 8 PM at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.

Mr. Seagroves was born December 28, 1940, in Ben Hill County, Georgia, to the late Clarence Monroe “Monk” & Lillian Louise Dorminy Seagroves. He graduated from Fitzgerald High School in 1960, ABAC in 1964 and the University of Georgia in 1967 as a Registered Pharmacist. Mr. Seagroves was a pharmacist in Moultrie and worked as a special agent for 34 years with the Georgia Drug & Narcotics Agency under the Georgia State Board of Pharmacy. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years, he was an avid Bulldog fan and loved to grill and spend time with his family. Mr. Seagroves attended Midway First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marilyn Seagroves of Midway; children: Richard M. “Rick” Seagroves, III & Darlene of Guyton and Toni & Jeff Corbitt of Rincon; six grandchildren: Kristen Gray, Shannon Gray, Richard M. Seagroves, IV, Justin Douglas, Jennie Johnson and Jamie Bohlinger; two brothers: Floyd & Edith Seagroves of Fitzgerald and Billy & Linda Seagroves of Fitzgerald; two nephews: Michael & Michelle Seagroves and Steve & Maleah Seagroves; two nieces: Brandy & Jason Davis and Christa & Jared Garner; three sisters-in-law: Betty Hendley & Loren of Ocilla, Regina Prescott & Lloyd of Bowling Green, Kentucky and Vivette Walker of Ocilla and a brother-in-law, Rocky Harris of Ocilla. Several nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.
