Obituary

Pauline Cornett, 95, passed peacefully on June 13, 2018. Pauline was born in Roxana, Kentucky, on March 15, 1923, the daughter of Monroe Fields and Ollie Caudill Fields. She married Emil Cornett, a WWII POW, on August 29, 1945, in Letcher County, Kentucky. The couple moved to Louisville, where they raised their three children. Emil took a position at International Harvester until his death in 1982 at the couple’s home in Shelbyville. Pauline then moved back to Louisville to be near her family. Over the next 35 years, she enjoyed growing flowers, visiting with the neighbors on her porch, sewing, making quilts, and spending time with her cat, Sam.
Pauline is survived by her brother, Clarence Reed Fields, her daughters, Barbara Hardin and Louise Cornett, a son, Douglass Cornett, and five grandchildren.
The family wishes to express special gratitude to Reed Fields and his wife Doris, and to all the friends and neighbors who helped her daily and brightened her day with their visits and their meals.
Pauline had requested that there be no service held because the people who truly loved her had already shown it in her lifetime.
