New Bedford – Francisco A. Araujo, age 82, passed away on Friday, June 15, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the husband of Aldora (Calheta) Araujo and son of the late Francisco Ambrozo and Maria Estrela (Correia) Araujo.
Francisco was born in Agua de Alto in St. Michael, Azores and had worked as a landscaper and handy man for Charles Dana Vineyards. He loved spending time with his family, watching soccer, as well as, gardening and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Aldora; his children, Zelia DeMelo and her husband, Fernando, Fatima Araujo, Durval Araujo and his wife, Alcina, Robert F. Araujo, Billy F. Araujo; 13 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brother Urbano Araujo, as well as, 3 other brothers and a sister living in Portugal and several nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Duarte M. Araujo.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend his visiting hours, Monday evening, from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Perry Funeral Home. His funeral service will be held on Tuesday morning, beginning in the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in Rural Cemetery.
