Obituary

Francis A. Strugnell Jr., 83 passed away peacefully in Manchester NH on June 14, 2018 following a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

“Frank” was born in Lynn MA on September 30th, 1934 to the late Francis Strugnell Sr. and Lizzie (Dunn) Strugnell, who immigrated to Lynn from Newfoundland in the 1920’s.

Always making those around him laugh, Frank will be missed dearly. He enjoyed travelling, especially to visit relatives and friends in Newfoundland. He loved digging into his family history, coaching the Patriots from his couch, politics, music, books, and crossword puzzles. Although he chose not to pursue membership, he qualified for MENSA. Always the “life of the party,” he was often heard saying “they love me in this town!”

As a friend of Bill W, he enjoyed helping people in recovery. He was very proud of his employment as a Deputy Sheriff for Essex County in MA and as a co-owner with his wife of a family restaurant, Cherub’s, Hudson, NH.
Frank is survived by his beloved wife Barbara (Lord) of Derry NH, formerly of Lynn and Swampscott MA and his loving children, Lynne Mari of Hudson NH, Diane Scotina and her husband Joe of Hudson, NH, Mark Strugnell and his wife Sue of Salem NH, Lisa Rose and her husband Alan of Dracut, MA, Michele Schultz and her husband Jim of Salem MA, and Todd Strugnell and his wife Cristin of Hudson NH, as well as grandchildren Kristen, Shayna, Michaela, Joy, Jesse, Janelle, Alyson, Melissa, Tony, Jesse, J.J., Jenna, Nick, Courtney, and Garrett,. Great grandchildren Aiden, Jase, Jenae, and Jevon, and nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. Frank is preceded in death by his sisters Mildred (Strugnell) Philcrantz of Litchfield NH and Eileen (Strugnell) Bethune of Swampscott MA.

Frank’s family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Elliot Hospital in Manchester for their exemplary care during his recent stay, and to Shenekua, for sharing her God given gift with us.
