Obituary

Dr. Daniel Baxter Craig, 67, beloved husband of Cynthia Craig, entered into rest on Wednesday, June 13, 2018.

A memorial mass will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Roverse serving as celebrant. Inurnment with full military honors to follow at the church columbarium.

A 27 year veteran of the US Army Medical Corps, Baxter treasured the friends he made during his time in the service – from colleagues to house staff to internationally known Infectious Disease Specialists. He loved teaching and working with interns and residents. Baxter was a compassionate and caring Infectious Disease physician who was an advocate for his patients.
An avid lover of history, Baxter particularly looked forward to and enjoyed the “history trips” he and Cindy made annually with their granddaughters. He even assigned the granddaughters homework in preparation for the trips – again the consummate teacher. Above all Baxter was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be dearly missed and daily celebrated.

In addition to his wife, Baxter is survived by his daughters, Tammy M. Black, and Heather Rios (Joel); his brother, Robert Craig (Celeste); and his grandchildren, Emily and Savannah Black, and Rebecca and Melayna Rios.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Doctors Without Borders, P.O. Box 5030, Hagerstown, MD, 21741-5030 are suggested by the family.
