Beauty is a light in the heart…Kahlil Gibran

Wayne Michael Yee Mon, of Wellesley, known to many as “Ming” passed away early Friday morning June 8th, 2018 with his beloved long-time partner Renee Faith Gold, by his side. His strong will to live and carry on was a true testament to his undying spirit. Many were not aware that he was a heart patient on a transplant list. He lived and died on his terms, simply living his virtuous life happily and peacefully amongst many who loved him. He was planning a picnic with his “Sweetie” when he passed. His last words to her were “I am cooking rice and barley. I love you!”

Wayne Michael Yee Mon was born in Trinidad September 5th 1958. As a US Citizen he spent the last forty years living and working in the United States. He is the son of the late ANGELA and ROMANO-KONG YEEMON of Trinidad.

The grieving family members are: his true love Renee Gold of Wellesley. His loving brothers, Rev. Ronald Yee Mon (and Father Ronald’s best friend Don Milo) of Fargo North Dakota, Emmanuel (and Joy), Gregory (and Sharon) and Romano of Trinidad. His devoted Niece and Nephew, Dr. Kristel-Joy Yee Mon of New York and Christopher-John Yee Mon of Seattle. His beloved Aunty Leonie Julian of Cambridge, “Mama G” Carol Gold of Swampscott, and Countless loving and cherished cousins, family and friends….

First and foremost Ming was a healer, a teacher, a seeker, and a truly compassionate human being. He had an affinity for Saint Francis. He loved and cared about everyone and everything including animals and the environment. Some have said “His heart was too big for this world!” Wayne-Ming was a volunteer for the Town of Wellesley, Sustainable Wellesley, and devoted the cause of Plastic Pollution. He would be happy to know anyone reading this will help further the cause by seeing the film Plastic Ocean (which changed his life) and being more aware of your use of plastic and certainly by recycling and composting!

He was a graduate of Wentworth Institute of Technology with a degree in Architectural Engineering Technology with Dean’s list honors. From Northeastern University he received his Certificate in Facilities Management and a GPA of 4.00. He was a medical technician at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston. Back in the 80’s-90’s he created the Tao Healthcare Center in Danvers Ma. He was the Director, Instructor, Bodywork Therapist and Health Counselor. His career was in Facilities Management and Patient Medical Care working in various capacities in these industries in and around Boston since 1992 including Boston Housing Authority-Bromley-Heath TMC, Home Health VNA and Kent Street Condominium Complex in Brookline Mass and more.

He loved, and continued to strive to advance at the Game Go. He met with his groups and friends twice a week to play. He was studying the Tao and met regularly with his Tao Family, a group of impeccable integrity with the goal of creating heaven on earth. Ming wrote poetry and has a manuscript titled On Life’s Journey. He leaves notes of quotes and thoughts including his own reflections. He was a member of the Boston Vegetarian Society and studied Macrobiotics at the Kushi Institute. Wayne-Ming studied Tai Chi for over twenty years and won awards. Rick Wong’s Chinese Martial Arts Center. He loved to mediate. His Renee called him the Wise Man on the Mountain…

Ming’s favorite place was in the kitchen (where as a child in Trinidad he spent a lot of time there with his mother Angela). His favorite thing to do was cook, and most especially beans and rice. He had a deep connection to Dolphins and collected Dolphin figurines. In Greek Mythology the Dolphin carries the Spirit of the dead to the next reality. It’s a highly honored creature and protector. He was profoundly dedicated and true to his love Renee Faith and to his loving family and hers. Many called him the Mingman!

He was a poet and a true man of peace. He spent his life smiling and doing for others. He would perpetually tell his Renee, “Keep shining your light…”

To further understand and appreciate Ming and keep his legacy of love alive please read his favorite book The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran. Read Kahlil Gibran On Dying. Ask Renee to share Ming’s poems.
