On June 13, 2018 Alvin “Papa” E. Postell began his eternal walk with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and joined his darling “MaMa Dot” to live in Heaven for eternity.

Papa was a Godly, loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all that knew him. He was married to Dorothy “MaMa Dot” Postell for 66 years. Alvin began work at Georgia Iron Works (GIW) Industries, Inc. on May 19, 1948 and retired on November 26, 1986, while remaining a consultant for GIW until December 1, 1989. Alvin was also Vice President Manufacturing of GIW Thomson, Inc., Vice President Manufacturing GIW Engineered Systems, Inc., and general partner of Thomson Machine and Fabricators.

Alvin was a charter member of West Acres Baptist Church. He also served as a Director of Georgia State Bank and as Director of Martinez Merchants Association. Alvin also served as the President of PLH Investments, Inc. and Vice President of Winfield Hills, Inc., which were local real estate developers. But the other true love of his life beside “MaMa Dot” was his fishing.

Papa is survived by his three sons, Greg Postell, Derrell (Donna) Postell, and Tony (Donna) Postell; a daughter, Debbie (David) Huguenin; two brothers, Bill Postell and Buster Postell; his grandchildren, Ashlee (Thomas) Vaiden, Amie Postell, Stephanie Huguenin, Patrick (Stacey) Huguenin, Mandy Postell, Becky (Garrett) Black, Justin Postell, Bailey Postell, and Cael Postell; and also eight great-grandchildren, Abby Black, Brett Black, Carsyn Black, Brady Black, Andrew Black, Parker Fox, Gunner Vaiden, and Camden Gantt. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Melvin Postell and Irene Pope Postell.

A special thank you to Tonya Dent, Cynthia Merriweather, Shaquila Moore, and Natalie Lee, your dedication and compassion will be remembered always. Their love, devotion, and care for Papa will never be forgotten from his children.
