Samuel “Ray” Wood, 68, of Norman Park passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Tifton Health and Rehab. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2018, at Ty Ty First Baptist Church Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest. The Rev. Ricky McLaughlin will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday, June 15, 2018, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. The family will be at the residence of Randy and Frances Bromlow, 1994 R. L. Sears Road in Norman Park.
Larry Wood, Jason Bromlow, Joey Hullett, Steve Wood, Keith Wood and Tyler Wood will serve as pallbearers.
Born August 18, 1949 in Tift County, Mr. Wood was the son of Samuel “Sam” Duncan Wood and Mildred Dillard Wood of Norman Park. Before retiring, he worked for Sam Wood’s Garage in Norman Park; he was a truck driver; and he worked at the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany. He was a member of the Moultrie Church of God and was a veteran of the United States Army.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Wood is survived by two sons, Marshall Wood and Sammy Wood, both of Moultrie; one daughter and son-in-law, Brittany and Joshua Hasty of Norman Park; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Frances and Randy Bromlow and Janice and Steve Kilgore, all of Norman Park; and six grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Tifton Health and Rehab and Hospice of Tift Area for their tender care of Mr. Wood.
