Mary Nolan Costello, born July 15, 1926 peacefully passed from this world on Monday, June 11, 2018 at the age of 91. She was surrounded by family and friends at the Medway Country Manor.
Mary was born in Boston to the late James Henry Nolan and Mary Elizabeth Rockwood. Well known as Donna, she recently resided in Bellingham with her previously deceased husband of 59 years, Francis X. Costello. Mary is survived by three children: Eileen Kampersal and her husband Kerry of Holliston, Francis Jr. and his wife Lydia of Florida, and Bryan and his wife Roseann also of Holliston, nine grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
Mary was raised in Boston, MA. She graduated from State Teachers College at Boston (Boston State College) and then went on to teach in various locations to include many years in the Holliston High School math department. She also earned a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Massachusetts.
Mary and Frank raised their family in Holliston and loved to spend summers on Cape Cod at their cottage in North Truro. Mary and Francis resided on the Cape through the '80s before moving to Bellingham in the mid-'90s.
Mary served the Catholic Church in multiple roles throughout her life. John 11:25-26 “Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?’”
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Mass on Friday, June 15 at 10 a.m. at St. Brendan Church, 382 Hartford Ave. (Rte. 126) in Bellingham. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery in West Roxbury. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 5 - 7 p.m. in the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com).
