Obituary

Salvatore John Chancholo, of Medford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 10th at the Sunrise Senior Living Community in Arlington. He was 94.

Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Anthony and Antoinette (Cammarata) Chancholo. Salvatore graduated from the Medford Vocational High School, Class of 1941, with a concentration in lithography. After high school, Salvatore enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served his country in World War II. He was honorably discharged on February 7, 1946. Following the service, Salvatore spent his career working as a lithographer in the printing industry.

In his spare time, Salvatore loved being with his family and volunteering within his community. He was a member of the bowling league and the Holy Name Society at St. Raphael Church. Salvatore was an avid Boston sports fan, and his favorite sport was baseball. He always enjoyed being outdoors, taking care of his home, and working in the yard.

Salvatore was the beloved husband of the late Josephine (DeLuca) Chancholo, who passed away in 2016. The two were married in 1948 and shared 68 loving years of marriage. He was the devoted father of John Chancholo of Lexington and Paula Anson and her husband Greg of Scarborough, Maine. Salvatore was the loving grandfather of Melissa and Erik Anson, both of Scarborough, Maine, and the devoted uncle of Marie, Lou and Karen.

At the family’s request, funeral services will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent in Salvatore’s name to the charitable organization of One’s choice.
