Obituary

Ronnie D. Tyson, 67, of Irwin County, Georgia, died Sunday, June 10, 2018, at Palemon Gaskins Memorial Nursing Home in Ocilla.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at The Paulk Funeral home Chapel in Ocilla with the Rev. Charley Bolt and the Rev. Bobby Tatum officiating. Interment will follow in Riverbend Cemetery, Irwin County. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Tuesday.

Mr. Tyson was born July 13, 1950, in Ocilla, Georgia, to the late Isaac Ezekiel “Zeke” & Ruby Rogers Tyson. He worked in insurance sales for Liberty National and Georgia Farm Bureau. He also worked for Ross Construction, served as a bail bondsman, and worked as a guard at Irwin County Detention Center. He could play anything with a string and enjoyed singing and playing guitar, mandolin, and banjo with his friends. He loved the mountains and enjoyed hiking trails and camping. He was a member of the Ocilla Church of God. He will be greatly missed by his dachshund, Boo.

He is survived by his children and their spouses: Phillip & Renae Tyson, Steve & Stacey Tyson, and Kelly Tyson Cameron, all of Ocilla and their mother, the late Dian Gray Tyson; grandchildren: Zachary Young, Hunter Tyson, Conner Tyson, Fisher Tyson, Westen Cameron, Alexis Harper, Sydnee Tyson, Kohen Cameron, Cain Martin, Cara Martin, Christen Miller and Laken Rogers; great-grandchildren: Peyton Parker, Graham Miller, Atley Rogers, and Bowers Rogers; brothers and sisters: Bishop Frankie & Joyce Tyson of Guatemala, Margie & Bill Sowell of Fitzgerald, Betty & Paul Bell of Winder, and Claire & Jack Till of Cumming; and a special friend, Ann Hardy of Blairsville. Many nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Tyson.
