Obituary

Tommy Coy Evans, 74, of Ashburn passed away peacefully at his home Saturday, June 9, 2018 surrounded by his family.

Tommy, affectionately known as the "Peppermint Man" for his love of passing out peppermint candy, was born on October 11, 1943 to the late Zeddie Coy and Grace Raines Evans. He was self-employed having worked in many fields during his life. His adult life began with shoeing horses, crop dusting, selling pivots and as the owner of Evans Construction. Tommy loved working with his cows and being outdoors. Some of his favorite hobbies were racing cars, "rodeoing" and playing pranks on anyone he met. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and loved his church family. He especially loved his family and grandkids.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth D. Evans of Ashburn; daughters, Tommie Ruth (Brian) Meadows of Sycamore and Patricia E. (David) Mathes of Ashburn; siblings, Sonny(Rene) Evans of Georgetown and Sarah Walker (James) Henderson of Tampa, Florida; grandchildren, Derek White, Ryan White, Matt White and Justin (Kayla) Moore; great-grandchildren, Jace Moore, Addy Moore, Maddy Moore and Kaitlyn S. Moore. Sisters-in-law, Lois Evans and Betty Evans. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Duval Evans and Zeke Evans.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Perry Funeral Chapel with interment to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 10:00 AM until the hour of services Tuesday morning.
