Obituary

Maryward (Jill) Thompson, a long-time resident of Newton and Charlestown entered into eternal life suddenly on Friday, June 1, 2018 at her home in Charlestown. She was 71 years of age.

Jill was born in Boston on November 3, 1946, the only daughter of the late Edward Arthur Thompson and Ursula (Tully) Thompson. She grew up in Newton, where she attended Mount Alvernia high school, before proceeding to Tufts University for her undergraduate degree, and Boston College for graduate work in economics. Jill worked for many years as an economist at Data Resources in Lexington and at Bank Boston in Boston. She specialized in monitoring and forecasting the industrial and transportation sectors of the US economy. Jill had many hobbies, including house restoration, gardening and sewing, but most of all she loved classical music, and frequently attended the Boston Symphony Orchestra.

Jill is the devoted mother of Meredith Ramsay of Seattle Washington, Myfanwy Probyn of London England, and Rhys Probyn of Newport Rhode Island. She is the loving grandma of Iris Angharad. She is also survived by her husband, Christopher Probyn, and younger brother, Edward Thompson of Orlando Florida.

A memorial service will be held at St John’s Church in Charlestown at 2:00 P.M. on the afternoon of Saturday, August 4, 2018. Some parking is available at Church Circle. (Take a right off Warren Street one short block beyond Cordis Street.)
