Obituary

Carmine “Sonny” A. Puopolo, of Medford, formerly of Boston’s West End, Thursday, June 7th. He was 85. Born and raised in Boston, he was the son of the late Anthony and Frances (Cucinotta) Puopolo.

Carmine enlisted into the United States Air Force in 1951, during The Korean War. He was stationed in Korea, Japan, the Philippines and the southern United States. Carmine was awarded the Korean, United Nations and the National Defense service medals.

Carmine worked as a foreman with the Turner Construction Company for over forty years and was a proud member of the Laborers Local 22 Union. When Carmine was not working he loved to spend time with his granddaughter’s Laura and Rachel.

Carmine was the beloved husband of the late Anna (Palmisano) Puopolo. He was the devoted father of Linda Sheehan of Malden, Donna Boggs and Joanne Chavis both of South Carolina. Loving grandfather of Laura and Rachel Sheehan. Dear brother of Cele Smigliani of Dedham.

A funeral service will be celebrated in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, on Monday, June 11th at 10:30 AM, for Carmine and his loving wife of 62 years Anna (Palmisano) Puopolo, who passed away on May 31st. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family from 8:30 – 10:30 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Late Korean Veteran.
