Roger Stanford, 61, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Thursday, June 7, 2018, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Sunday, June 10, 2018, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald. Friends of Mr. Stanford will officiate his service. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Fitzgerald. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Saturday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Stanford was born April 28, 1957, in Irwin County, Georgia to Gerline Ruby Stanford. He was raised by his aunt, Emma Stanford Veal. He was a mechanic for many years and also worked at Modern Fibers and Shaw Industries for over 30 years. He lived most of his life in Fitzgerald and was a former resident of Nashville, Georgia. Mr. Stanford loved to fish and loved his family dearly. He was a hard worker all of his life.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Donna Barnes Stanford of Fitzgerald; children: Lisa Frances Hutchinson & Anthony of Macclenny, Floirda and Joseph Stanford of Fitzgerald; a grandson, Brandon Hutchinson of Macclenny, Florida; his mother, Gerline Stanford of Fitzgerald; three sisters: Billie Jean Meeks & Donnie Harper of Douglas, Glenda Ray of Tifton, and Barbara Hyman of Alapaha; two brothers: Daniel & Judy Ray of Douglas and Gerald & Kelly Ray of Douglas; his aunt who raised him, Emma Veal & Charles Harrell of Fitzgerald; along with many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jimmy Cotterman, and a brother, Scott Ray.
