NEW BEDFORD…Jennie C. (Sonski) LaFleur, 102, of New Bedford passed away June 5, 2018 at Bedford Gardens Nursing Home in New Bedford.
She was the widow of Romeo A. LaFleur.
Born in Fall River, she was a daughter of the late Jan and Bronislawa (Bydlinski) Sonski.
Mrs. LaFleur worked as a Nurse’s Aide at the former Union Hospital in Fall River until her retirement in 1981. She was a member of the D.A.V. Auxiliary, the Sts. Peter & Paul Seniors’ Club, and the Highland Squares and the Mid-Town Twirlers Square Dance Clubs. She had volunteered at the Providence V.A.M.C. Hospital.
Survivors include her son, Brian LaFleur and his wife Elaine of New Bedford and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Wanda Yelle, Helen Szlana, Stella McGee, Cecelia Kelly, Bertha Sonski, Walter Sonski and Ronald Jameson.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Monday, June 11, 2018 at 9 AM from the Boyko Memorial Funeral Home, 709 Broadway Fall River, MA 02724 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at Holy Cross Chapel, Pulaski St. Fall River. Interment will be private. Calling hours are kindly omitted.
